You shouldn't do that...Do this

Not sure about everyone else out there, but when it comes to writing when people say I can't do something makes me want to follow through with my goals even more. Ok, so I'm stubborn and this goes for more than just writing. The more you say, really you're going to do that? Um yes I'm going to write about this cause I want to write about it. Just because I might focus on one topic at one time doesn't make it a bad thing. It's called research and insparation. If one subject can make me excited and focused on it for more than a short time, then there is definatley something to it. If I like it for that long then someone else is going to like as well.

Just cause someone says no you shouldn't go here or do that doesn't mean that others out there wont agree with you. For one nay sayer there is a thousand others that are like you. In the end there is only one person who's oppinion that matters and that is yours. If you are passionate about something then what is there to live for.

This goes for more than just writing, but in life in general. Example, I've been planning a big Vegas trip for my upcoming birthday. At first everyone was all gunhoe about it. And I'm not one to not plan things out. I'm going to get my big birthday celebration planned and the rest of the trip can be more on fly by the seat of our pants type of trip. So I come up with the breakdown of everything thats going to happen and cost total and per person. What can I say my producing skills and accounting skills come in handy when it comes to schedualing event. Then nothing happens. No one gets back to me a month later. No confermations, no talks of concers of pricing or the fact that it's in the middle of the week. This gets to be a big problem when you need to make reservations and have an official head count. No way of getting a head count if no one is talking back to you. So my birthday is getting closer and closer and no one is able to go. What do I do? Do I change my plans to fit what everyone else wants to do and not the birthday girl? Nope. You make things work out for you. You switch things around a bit make friends through friends and realize that you have a real chance of an adventure. Why should going to Vegas alone be a bad thing?

It's a chance to do something that others don't have the guts to do. What one person might see as a horrible thing, I see as a way to face my fears and come out of things with a great story.

I for one say screw you to all the nay sayers and keep doing what makes you happy. If that means going it alone? Then do it. Just know that through all the hard work and difficult times will make you a stronger person, a better writer.

Even when it comes to picking your story ideas, follow your gut. Take some advice from the professionals and make the changes that you want. Everyone doesn't have the same taste as you and even those that say of course you would choose that to write about, why wouldn't you choose that because you're interested in it. What's the point in writing something that you aren't interested in or don't like? Because it's popular in the moment? Cause you have a greater chance of making money? Don't do it. Create worlds that you enjoy. That the characters talk to you. I'm sure that there are people out there that are completely capable of writing a genre that they don't enjoy, but really? It's like being stuck in a day job that you dread going to. Find something that you can enjoy doing and do it.

Ok, I know this post is a bit of a rant, but I needed a bit of a rant today. All in all go and do what you want in life. If that means traveling by yourself then do it. Keep yourself open to the world and new people. You never know who you will meet or what new friends you will make. The only person in life that holds you back is yourself. Blaming it on others is just an excuse. Live life to the fullest and you never know where it will take you.
